Today, on the Choose Your Accounts Type phase, select 'Place or IMAP'. Select Guide set up or extra server forms. Then, simply above the Account Settings button, click Add more Account. The account seems to setup fine and start downloading all my messages (>40,000 messages now on gmail).

Outlook 2016 for mac and Gmail I'm having trouble getting my gmail account to work with outlook. I created a password for outlook in the 2 step pricess and it works fine now.
It was the 2 step authentification that was preventing outlook from connecting to gmail. When I open Outlook 2016 it works ok for a while then changes to a 'Sync pending for this folder' status. Upgraded to MS Office 2016 (now at v15.18) on my 17' MacBook Pro and installed the latest service pack as recommended for Exchange 2010 to work with this Outlook upgrade.Additionally, when you point to Open on the File menu, the Calendar option is unavailable. When you open your Calendar in Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac, the Open Shared Calendar button on the ribbon is unavailable.
Open Perspective 2016 and move to the Document tab. Click on the Forwarding and Put/IMAP tab and create certain IMAP will be allowed and click on on save adjustments.
